Graphic Design Specialist-College of Law College of Law
The University of Illinois College of Law seeks an experienced, self-motivated graphic designer to join our Communications team. The Graphic Design Specialist will design and develop marketing materials for digital, print, and merchandise in support of student recruitment, advancement, faculty research, and other College initiatives. This position reports to the Director of Communications and will work closely with the Communications Specialist and members of other departments within the College.

Job Summary Design and develop marketing materials for digital, print, and merchandise in support of student recruitment, advancement, faculty research, and other College initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities
Design/Creative Output
Produce design solutions for digital, print, merchandise, and environmental assets (including social media, digital advertising, signage, flyers, brochures, etc.)
Possess a comprehensive knowledge of graphic design principles and production methods and a thorough understanding of typography, branding, and conceptualizing.
Use the latest Adobe Creative Suite software to take projects from concept development to final execution, presenting visual plans and strategies to stakeholders throughout the process.
Consult with commercial printers and other vendors regarding format and print processes utilizing preflight and prepress best practices; assemble final layouts to prepare files for printer.
Fully understand and be able to apply the College of Law brand guidelines to new assets, as well as quickly identify (and update) materials that do not meet brand requirements.
Team Collaboration/Communication
Collaborate closely with team members in a variety of roles to launch and produce highly effective deliverables.
Understand project requirements, target audiences, and desired outcomes.
Adhere to the team's project management processes.
Participate in brainstorming and other creative activities to develop strong ideas and solutions.
Monitor and seek inspiration from design trends.
Take direction and use feedback from team members to grow and improve.
Photography
Use photographic equipment to perform custom and specialized photography (and occasional videography) in-house or on location for use in print and digital publications, exhibits, and displays.
Determine site setup, camera settings, lighting requirements, and location considerations to ensure quality results.
Edit and manipulate photos/videos as needed.
Organize and manage digital photograph/video library for the College.
Additional Physical Demands Occasional evening and weekend work. Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a closely related field. One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, or a related professional area. Demonstrated experience in the design and production of print/collateral, digital, and other creative materials.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, or related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge in the Adobe Creative suite, preferably with advanced skill in Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
Excellent design and layout skills with a strong attention to detail and the ability to spot errors or inconsistencies.
Ability to resize or update e-communication assets such as email banners, website headers.
Ability to work independently, managing several projects at a time while adhering to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to problem solve and present multiple solutions, as well as package final designs and create production-ready files.
Digital photography skills.
Ability to communicate information in crowded spaces so others will understand.
Ability to exchange accurate information in crowded spaces.

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5004 - Marketing Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 7/17/2023. Salary is commensurate with experience.
