About Northeastern University Athletics: Northeastern Athletics is committed to providing a distinctive student experience and offers 18 Division I varsity sports as a proud member of the Colonial Athletic Association, Hockey East, and Intercollegiate Rowing Association. The Howlin' Huskies finished 13th among Division I AAA institutions in the Learfield Director's Cup standings after the most successful season in school history in 2017-18. The Assistant Athletics Director, Howlin' Huskies Fund and External Affairs is responsible for the planning and execution of a comprehensive annual giving program designed to increase donor participation and giving through marketing, soliciting, acquiring, and renewing alumni and friend annual gifts using direct mail, e-solicitation, electronic media, personal visits, and telemarketing. This position will advise and support the Deputy Athletics Director External Affairs on the overall management of the external unit providing consultation, serving as liaison to designated campus departments, and conducting special projects. The position will generate charitable support for Northeastern Athletics' annual fund, the Howlin' Huskies Fund and will serve as a primary fundraiser within the department of athletics. An assistant director for development and potentially a graduate
assistant/intern will report to this position.
Bachelor's degree in sport marketing, administration, management or a related field is required. Master's degree is preferred.
5+ years of related work experience in University or Athletic-specific development.
Team player that works cooperatively and collaboratively with other business units.
Experience supervising, mentoring and providing direction to others.
Strong attention to detail, organization, verbal, written, customer service and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays depending on work and game schedules.
Graphic design, digital advertising and social media experience.
Strong time management, ability to stay focused through interruptions, thrives in team environment, strong analytic and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, work as part of a team and motivate staff in a fast-paced environment.
Track record of success and productivity.
Understands and uphold standards befitting the Northeastern Athletic Department.
Must be authorized to work in the United States of America and successfully pass a background check. Experience with development software is required with SalesForce experience preferred.
Develop and implement new and innovative giving strategies to retain and grow the base of support from alumni student-athletes, alumni, parents of current and former student-athletes, as well as fans and friends of Northeastern Athletics
Work collaboratively with University Advancement departments including: Annual Giving, Major Gifts, Advancement Services, Parents Leadership Council, etc
Manage and supervise full-time, part-time, and student employees to include but not limited to: recruitment, training, mentoring, development and evaluation of performance
