The Arboretum social media coordinator is responsible for developing frequent content for the Arboretum’s social media accounts, monitoring accounts, responding to questions, researching trends and measuring the results of our social media presence. Social media content should align with established Marketing & Communications plans. Social media is an important outreach and engagement tool for the Arboretum. This role is focused on driving additional engagement on social media and encouraging visitors to deepen their connection with the Arboretum.

Responsibilities:
Social Media Content (65%)

• Develops and updates social media accounts in line with Arboretum Marketing & Communications plans.
• Plans and builds social media content to encourage visits to the Arboretum, educate the community and promote the Arboretum’s work. Content should drive traffic to social media pages, encourage engagement on social media pages and drive traffic to the Arboretum website. The Arboretum Marketing & Communications plan and style documentation should be used as a guide when developing content.
• Sources or takes photos for use in social media posts.
• Reviews social media content for accuracy, style and correct spelling prior to posting.
• Assists with digital advertising

Social Media Monitoring (25%)

• Monitors official Arboretum social media accounts and conversations about the Arboretum on other social media accounts. Responds to questions in a helpful, cordial manner.
• Monitors social media accounts for potential issues and works with the team and supervisor on appropriate responses.
• Conducts research to identify social media platforms and trends that are relevant to Arboretum Marketing & Communications goals.

Measurement (5%)

• Uses performance metrics to measure achievement of objectives.
• Collects feedback on the Arboretum’s social media presence.

Other (5%)

• Attends Marketing & Communications team meetings and All-Staff meetings.
• Collaborates with team and Arboretum colleagues in a professional manner.
• Continues professional development.

Required Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years.
• Experience using social media to promote a brand.
• Knowledge of social media best practices, including knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok and Pinterest.
• Ability to align social media content with a Marketing & Communications plan and ability to review social media content for accuracy, style and correct spelling.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding of social media measurement best practices.
• Experience building paid social media ads.
• Experience working with an integrated Marketing & Communications team.
