The web and digital strategist manages all aspects of the peddie.org website. Informed by comprehensive data analysis, the assistant director develops content strategy, information architecture and all technical aspects of the content management system (CMS) and spearheads the digital marketing plan for the department. This full-time, 12-month position, reporting to the director of strategic marketing and communications, provides expertise in all phases of website engagement, including best practices in design development, analytics, and accessibility.
Specific responsibilities:
Web strategy
- With the director of strategic marketing and communications, develop a comprehensive web strategy that is informed by data analysis and aligns with the school’s overall marketing plan.
- Stay abreast of latest web technologies and practices; make recommendations to maintain a best-in-class peddie.org website that is continually at the forefront of technology and design.
- Manage website redesign and re-skin processes in a timely manner according to industry best practices.
- As school webmaster, maintain all aspects of the content management system including functionality, site navigation and content curation.
- Continually optimize the peddie.org website for search engines and research updates to search engine functionality that will affect the Peddie website.
- Develop and update guidelines for internal campus partners on CMS and web content creation.
- Ensure school’s web presence is consistent and meets brand standards across all web properties; serve as advisor to various school partners on web-based projects regarding design, functionality, content and brand alignment.
- Serve as primary contact with CMS customer support and liaison with school’s tech department to support platform integrations, address technical issues and elevate improvement requests.
- Ensure both web design and practice meet current accessibility standards.
- Benchmark site against peer institutions and build relationships with colleagues across the industry.
Data Analysis
- Use Google Analytics and other metrics to assess effectiveness of web design, improve SEO, increase web traffic and develop and meet strategic goals.
- Implement tracking system to measure the success of key marketing deliverables. Create unique URLs for website tracking and analyze data collected through Google Analytics.
Digital marketing
- Manage school’s digital marketing strategy to promote brand awareness and increase applicant pool consistent with goals of admission office.
- Research market trends regarding budget, ad placement and design for both PPC and Social advertising campaigns.
- Oversee creation and curation of digital advertising visual content and copy that meets brand standards and matches strategic goals of campaigns.
- Maintain vendor relationships to ensure responsible management of digital advertising budget and keep pace with digital marketing trends and best practices.
- Evaluate and report on effectiveness of digital marketing campaigns using web analytics tools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, or related field
- Minimum of five years of experience that demonstrates knowledge, skill, and understanding of website usability, report analysis, writing, promotion and outreach
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience writing for web
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience in a website production function
- Familiarity with boarding schools, independent schools or universities preferred
- Experience in leading website redesign preferred
- Proficient in Google Analytics, HTML, Photoshop
