Purpose of Position:
The Assistant Director of Alumni Outreach and Communications creates and edits content for communications being sent to variety of audiences, including alumni, donors, prospects, internal stakeholders and key community partners. This position works within specific web-based systems such as Blackbaud NetCommunity, Raiser's Edge and Adobe Experience Manager to initiate and track engagement and fundraising efforts. This position also works closely with faculty, staff, students and administrators to highlight the NKU experience and update constituents.
Significant responsibilities include creating and editing content and developing, distributing electronic communications (i.e., solicitations, College/Unit newsletters, event invitations) and assisting with social media planning, data analysis and outreach as needed. They will also develop and edit copy for University Advancement programs and webpages and serve as the primary content manager for the division.
As required, this role will assist in the creation and production of professional-quality images and video to accompany copy. This role is also responsible for quality testing email communication to ensure optimal send times, subject lines, content, etc. using Google Analytics and Litmus. They will be directly responsible for tracking and improving open, click-through and spam rates for each send.
Primary Responsibilities :
Responsible for building email communication and campaigns for University Advancement and other areas of the university. Work with colleges and units to identify relevant content for external audiences and co-manages a cohesive communication calendar that promotes engagement. Using HTML, these emails will be built within NetCommunity to be mobile-responsive and appear correctly on multiple email clients and screen ratios. Emails will also be quality tested for spam triggers and ADA compliance. Write social media content and work closely with Associate
Director to coordinate calendar and develop the social media strategies.
Responsible for writing and editing content sent to external audiences promoting the
NKU experience and priorities. This includes content for the University Advancement website, electronic newsletters, departmental updates, social media, and some marketing and digital advertising efforts. Assist with writing and developing alumni stories, create and edit videos for donor stewardship and alumni engagement. Good understanding of digital marketing tools, including the Adobe Creative Suite, social media channels, writing for Search Engine Optimization and web editing tools is a plus. Proofread created and submitted content for brevity, clarity and AP style.
Create and test donation pages, registration pages, alumni surveys and forms within
Blackbaud NetCommunity.
Develop and manage a process for assessment, tracking and reporting engagement with all electronic communications to measure participation, effectiveness and relevancy.
Supports the mission, goals and objectives of the University Advancement Division.
Qualifications :
Minimum bachelor's degree in computer science, visual communication design, communications, journalism, digital media and 1-3 years of related professional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficiency in email design platforms, HTML, CSS and related technologies and have MS Office and Adobe Products proficiency.
Knowledge of AP style and be interested in tracking and improving metrics.
Proven ability to learn quickly and an understanding and appreciation for email and social media marketing strategy.
Must be a collaborator and able to manage multiple projects and conflicting deadlines.
