Reporting to the Executive Assistant to the President, the Communications Manager will, in addition to the CUNY Title Overview:
Research, develop, and write content for a variety of marketing needs: press releases, articles, ad copy, web, and social media networking sites
Distribute press releases to key media contacts, maintain media database (Cision), and media lists, and track media stories (Meltwater)
Work with Image and Visual Communications to post all social media content across multiple platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
Coordinate a City Tech Communications newsletter, in order to increase visibility of student, alumnae, faculty, and staff success, inform the community of events, and compile both internal and external City Tech news
Assist in preparation and management of annual communications strategic plan, including digital advertising and social media goals, and assessment
Oversee the Office of Image and Visual Communications in coordinating advertising and marketing materials, also collaborating with Enrollment Management and Institutional Advancement (Development)
Perform related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.
BA in English, Communications, Journalism or related field;
Excellent English language skills (written and oral)
Excellent research and organization skills, and strong attention to detail
Ability to quickly generate copy, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
Experience with social media and digital advertising strategy, including planning, writing, and analytics.
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Oversees implementation of communications programs and produces communications in all media to meet a variety of College needs
Provides creative direction for publications and marketing materials, such as catalogs, annual reports, brochures, direct mail packages, print advertising and other marketing materials
Works with College clientele (faculty, administrators, and student representatives) to understand their communications objectives, select appropriate messages, formats, and distribution methods, set production timelines, and establish appropriate editorial and design approaches
Provides creative direction and supervision to external and/or internal creative resources such as writers, photographers, illustrators and graphic designers
Ensures consistent application of standards and guidelines for College materials, such as graphic identity standards
Manages production activities, including creating printing specifications and arranging procurement of services, managing work flows, and production schedules, and assuring a quality finished product
Prepares sensitive and high-priority communications such as speeches for use by senior management
Performs related duties as assigned.
