Detailed Job DescriptionThe Golisano Institute for Sustainability at Rochester Institute of Technology is seeking to hire a Digital Marketing & Communication Manager to lead and implement the digital strategy for all of GIS programs and research centers. This position will also be directly responsible for coordinating all marketing and outreach efforts for the academic recruitment efforts at GIS.
The Digital Marketing and Communications Manager will serve as:
- Leader for the development of strategic and effective digital marketing recommendations for all GIS programs and centers. Specifically this manager will identify digital opportunities and map out the implementation, inclusive of research, resource planning, execution and key insights based on campaign results and analytics.
- Serve as the project manager of all GIS's website and digital strategies to boost awareness and SEO of our research, academic programs, client successes, and related campaigns.
- Work across all GIS departments and research programs to support other digital-related work, including email, web and digital advertising programs.
- Work with all program managers and marketing and communications coordinators assisting them in developing digital work plans to plan and build target audiences
- Drive the adoption of processes and standards, supporting digital best practices (blogs, resources, newsletters) and key digital metrics (dashboards).
The Digital Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for the development and execution of the annual Marketing Plan for new student recruitment, updating marketing brochures, collecting and compiling testimonials, maintaining website content, planning for dissemination events, and working closely with RIT University News in preparation of articles, news releases and media events.
The Digital Marketing and Communications Manager is required to have excellent communication, writing and presentation skills and may perform other tasks in support of the Institute as requested by the GIS director and its academic department heads.
Major responsibilities:
- Strategic Marketing Initiatives: Identify quarterly digital opportunities for GIS to grow key audiences and build awareness of its programs. Map out the necessary action plans, including research, inputs, tactics, and post campaign analytics
- Monitor, track and assess marketing success of all GIS digital strategies, and make recommendations for revisions
- Manage all GIS websites, architecture, SEO strategy, layout & design, and upgrade as needed
- Serve as managing editor of all GIS websites and newsletters including content, pictures, articles, and announcements. This includes the coordination of all GIS news stories, success stories and blog development with the GIS writers
- Develop and execute all aspects for our academic marketing plan, inclusive of audience persona development, email communications, open house or other event coordination and promotion, web page updates, coordination with academic department heads and external consultants, all social media
- Create and maintain all GIS networking and communication venues including social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter)
- Maintain mailing lists and CRM database of all student prospects
- Negotiate, Manage and supervise all external consultants for digital, web, video and SEO services
- Manage and supervise co-ops or student marketing employees
- Stay current with emerging opportunities in digital marketing strategies

100+ companies, governments, and other organizations engage GISs research centers on a variety of projects to solve technical problems, innovate products or processes, research manufacturing technologies, reduce their environmental footprint, or commercialize a new technology. Research center projects are led by full-time professional staff with significant industry experience.
Required Minimum QualificationsThe experience required for this position is a B.S. in Marketing or related field with a minimum of five years of directly related work experience.
