The Office of Admissions is part of the Office for Student Services at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (SPH). The Office oversees the recruitment, admissions operations, and yield activities for students interested in graduate degree programs at SPH (outside of the PhD programs). The Office reports to the Associate Dean for Student Services and works closely with the Registrar, Financial Aid, and Student Affairs Offices. There is also strong collaboration with the Offices of Diversity and Inclusion, Alumni Relations, Career and Professional Development, and Communications.
The Office of Admissions is seeking an Assistant Director of Admissions (AD). The AD reports into the Associate Director of Admissions, and works very closely with the Director and other Assistant Director on a wide range of duties.
Responsibilities will focus on three main areas of Admissions in order to recruit highly-qualified and diverse applicants committed to addressing public health challenges:
(1) Recruitment and Outreach:
Alongside the Director, Associate Director, and other Assistant Director, plan and manage the overall recruitment and yield efforts of the Office of Admissions, including on-campus, off-campus and virtual events to align with the strategic priorities of the School and Office, as well as with the needs/interests of prospective and admitted students.
Represents Harvard Chan School at on-campus, virtual, and off-campus information sessions and events (international and domestic)
Develops and executes initiatives to include current students and alumni in admissions outreach, events, and processes by partnering with alumni ambassador and student ambassador programs
Counsels prospective and admitted students throughout the application cycle; acts as primary contact for prospects and leads
Coordinate, manage, and implement student search campaign
Creates networks with pipeline programs; Executes phone calls and email outreach to identified groups and organizations
Reporting to and in collaboration with the Director and Associate Director employs the deliberate use of data in the office's decision making. Supports the development of data-informed recruitment and marketing plans. Monitors and analyzes data and trends for recruitment, admissions, and yield purposes.
Serves on interdepartmental committees and liaises with department/program staff
Day-to-day responsibility for financial systems reconciliation, as well as partnering on quarterly and year-end financial reporting
Manage website updates
Coordinates Visa application processing for international students
Serves as a resource for admissions best practices and policies for faculty and staff
Accountable for accurate end-to-end admissions processing, from prospective inquiry to decision release and matriculation
In conjunction with the Director and others in the office, plays an active role in managing technology (e.g., CRM, automated email campaigns, online application, decision notification, admitted student websites and portals) to support operations and customer service
Interviews applicants for English language proficiency
Conducts data needs assessments and evaluates admission activities to recommend immediate and future operational enhancements to support long-term admission goals
Partners with Associate and Assistant Director to train and supervise current student employees; student ambassadors; Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Fellows; and temporary employees
As a member of Admissions team, contributes at all levels as needed, handles special projects as needed, and overall, performs other duties as assigned

PLEASE NOTE: Once normal operations resume, this position may travel domestically and internationally, outside of the Boston area for Admissions-related events. This position also requires schedule flexibility for evening and weekend programming.

Duties and Responsibilities continued:
Designs effective communications strategies across all platforms (print, email, website, social media, digital advertising) to increase brand awareness and overall number, quality, and diversity of the applicant pool; Partner with internal and external stakeholders
Manage the overall referral process by developing communications templates, following up with referrers and referees, managing the CRM referral database, monitoring and evaluating alumni activity, etc.

Prior admissions experience strongly preferred
Lead generation experience, CRM, and digital advertising is preferred

Working knowledge of basic admissions principles is a strong plus
Prior experience with recruiting and/or event planning strongly preferred
