Partner with the Art Director, Associate Art Director, Graphic Designer and Studio Manager to create original designs as well as update existing designs for both print and digital projects, multi-page, multi-channel, integrated campaigns. Primary projects include brochures, postcards, newsletters, posters, signage, web design, landing pages, emails, digital advertisements and social media assets for clients throughout the University including undergraduate, graduate, and administrative divisions within the University. Formulate and execute design concepts on schedule and within budget. A strong editorial and typographic designer with attention to detail is preferred. Must be able to source and edit both stock photography and newly commissioned work, as well as using archived images. Light retouching for comping purposes. Responsible for production and heavy copy editing tasks, and able to switch gears easily.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree of Fine Arts
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree of Fine Arts in Graphic Design .
Required Experience: 3+ years relevant experience in academic, institutional and/or editorial publishing areas or similar environment.
Preferred Experience: A strong editorial and typographic designer with attention to detail is preferred. Experience with web design.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Strong creative sense and excellent design skills. Firm understanding of page layout and typography with a good eye for photography. Experience with core principles of web design and user experience with basic knowledge of HTML, working within a content management system, and various social media platforms (Facebook Twitter, Instagram, WordPress). Strong knowledge of print production and preparation of files for print. The ability to handle, interpret and adhere to existing brand guidelines is an absolute must. Ability to gather materials from multiple sources to complete a project from concept through completion. Must have a strong attention to detail and a high degree of craftsmanship and precision. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Animate. After Effects a plus). Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Must be self-motivated and able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast paced environment while effectively meeting deadlines. Collaborative attitude and a sense of teamwork. Comfortable being critiqued. Must be able to source both stock photography and newly commissioned work, as well as using archived images. Must be able to switch gears easily.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Experience with 2, 3, and 4-color print production, and pre-press. Proficiency with other graphic design software packages.
