The Simon Research Lab within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a Clinical Research Associate to manage the operations of the newly launched Center for Health Equity Transformation, the Chicago Cancer Health Equity Collaborative and management of NIH, foundation, and other research projects and initiatives. This is a full-time position for an individual interested in providing direction and thought leadership to develop strategic goals and objectives and ensure day-to-day operations for a major center and affiliated projects. Other job duties include creating and nurturing internal & external collaborations and partnerships, co-authoring scientific manuscripts, coordinating writing and submission of grant proposals, supervision of research assistants and trainees, and managing study development, implementation, intervention delivery, and data analyses.

Participates in the planning, conduct, and training of research studies.
Provides strategic management and leadership support for Principal Investigator’s (PIs) Center for Health Equity Transformation and affiliated projects.
Reviews project & protocol & recommends strategies to expedite study.
Recruits & retains participants.
Obtains informed consent.
Administers tests &/or questionnaires following protocols.
Monitors & maintains systems for effective participant and data flow for studies.
Creates new datasets and participant registries for data collection.
Develops protocols and communications for the IRB.
Manages study databases which may include ensuring that data is collected & entered correctly in collaboration with the data management team.
Reviews & analyzes data in collaboration with the statistical team.
Creates computer models, graphs, reports & summaries for use in publications, professional journals, & grant applications.
Creates slide presentations and posters for scientific lectures.
Writes portions of grant applications.
Contributes to writing of scientific manuscripts.
Maintain recruitment website and review any email inquiries.
Manage social media accounts.
Develop digital advertising plans to aid in recruitment and outreach.
Identify and work closely with external vendors to develop study marketing and non-traditional recruitment initiatives.
Work closely with the PI and other Investigators and Staff at all subcontracting institutions, and appropriate NU financial and contracts personnel to oversee budgets and subcontracts; coordinate with the NU Contracts Manager and Financial Administrator to monitor the contracts and Task Orders in accordance with federal guidelines; manage any consultant agreements.
Work with university and hospital general counsel on a variety of legal issues including: licensing agreements; contracting (approved vendor contracts, etc.); data use and sharing agreements.
Acts as a mentor in regard to education of junior research staff.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science, education, or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 4 years' research study or other relevant experience required.
Hold an advanced qualification, such as: MPH, MS, MA, PhD, RN, or MD
Strong project management experience and proven ability to strategize, think operationally, organize, and implement research programs.
Strong skill set and interest in contributing to the writing of scientific reports and manuscripts.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
Excellent listening, communication, and presentation skills.
Strong organizational skills & attention to detail.
Strong foundation in research methodology and proven track record in working successfully in diverse range of ethnic, cultural, and economic communities.
Proven ability to work in teams and foster collaborative environments.
Strong personal initiative and ability to work independently.
Skilled in biostatistics/strong data analysis (e.g., SPSS, SAS).
High degree of professionalism.
Experience working on large collaborative projects and/or with teams that span multiple sites.
Previous training and experience running/managing health-related research studies or interventions.
Experience mentoring diverse youth/students.
