Purpose of Position:
The Marketing Specialist, reporting to the Director of Executive Education, will lead the marketing efforts and manage the customer relationship management (CRM) system for the Office of Executive Education at the Carey Business School. In close coordination with marketing and communications staff, the Office of Executive Education and other partners, this role will execute the marketing plan, determine messaging, support lead generation, manage marketing analytics, and work collaboratively with the agency partner on the media plan for both traditional and digital media. The Marketing Specialist will have a specific focus on activities that advance the long-term goals for the Office of Executive Education.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Utilize and optimize SEO/SEM, email campaigns, user experience, digital advertising, and promotions etc. to build brand/program awareness, generate leads and engagement with participants
Maximize efficiency and capitalize on the full features and benefits of the CRM system based on the various programmatic needs
Set up, deploy and optimize targeted social media advertising and email campaigns
Research material for use in marketing campaigns and projects such as interviews with alumni, faculty, students or staff; write and edit text; and prepare digital materials and messages to ensure consistency with University's brand identity and incorporate marketing strategies
Measure competitive analysis and market research to help inform marketing strategies
Organize marketing promotional events as needed and ensure prompt creation and delivery of materials and merchandise
Ensure brand consistency across all marketing activities (e.g. website, emails, social media, events, etc.)
Manage high performing Lead and Traffic generation programs across all digital channels including SEO/Local, SEM, email, affiliate, social, video and display advertising
Manage creation and publishing of digital media assets and coordination of all third-party content available on our website and community cloud portal
Provide ongoing analysis and recommendations to optimize existing campaigns and identify new opportunities
Optimize CRM tools used to support new customer acquisition and nurture campaigns in our Salesforce platform
Serve as main point of contact for partner agency and oversee project budget, schedules, scope definition and resource allocation
Liaise with internal marketing office in support of assigned projects and ensure adherence to all school-wide guidelines
Stewardship of assigned digital products to ensure quality, contribution to business goals, and alignment to audience, and stakeholder needs
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business or a related field required
Two years of related experience required. 5+ years’ experience preferred
2+ years’ experience with Salesforce preferred
2+ years’ digital marketing experience (e.g., SEM/SEO/Email/Social/SMS) preferred, including marketing automation programs such as Marketo, Eloqua, Pardot, etc.
Advanced degree may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula
Knowledge and Skill:
Excellent ability to develop and execute against strategic integrated multichannel marketing plans
Ability to clearly articulate (written and verbal) strategies and plans to achieve goals
Experience in optimizing marketing and lead generation funnel from brand/program awareness to conversion to retention
Excellent understanding of digital marketing channels
Hands-on experience with SEO/SEM, web design, marketing automation
Excellent understanding of Salesforce.com
Strong experience in working with automated customer relationship management (CRM) systems
Demonstrated knowledge of the latest digital and integrated marketing tools
Self-starter and can lead independently and proactively
Experience in managing external media agencies
Strong analytical skills, problem-solving, and high attention to detail
