General Summary: Seattle Pacific University is re-calibrating our Annual Giving program, which uses direct marketing and personal outreach to engage alumni, parents, and friends of the university in giving to the mission of SPU. We are seeking an Annual Giving Specialist to work alongside the Assistant Director of Annual Giving and implement program strategy and tactics in order to achieve donor and revenue goals. The position requires someone who's willing and nimble to contribute in distinctly diverse ways as the program grows and evolves.
Marketing and communications project coordination/management
Implements direct mail operations in partnership with SPU's marketing and communications department.
Supports multi-channel marketing efforts, including email, social media, and digital advertising.
Where beneficial, implements mail and email testing. Evaluates and documents results.
Maintains Annual Giving project calendar. Initiates projects, works with stakeholders, and tracks deadlines to ensure timely implementation of communication tactics.
May track project budgets and department category budgets as needed.
Content creation for donor communications
Writes and/or copy-edits communications as needed.
Follows organizational brand and messaging standards.
Produces and coordinates email solicitations and donor stewardship communications.
Leverages social media and creates posts to engage and report impact to donors.
If possible, creates simple video content for use in donor communications.
Reporting and analytics
Pulls reports and tracks Annual Giving progress and trends.
Works closely with Assistant Director of Annual Giving to evaluate and report results to the Director of Advancement and the Vice President of Advancement.
Tracks progress against goals for the Annual Giving efforts of major gift and gift planning officers.
Data requests and management
Submits timely data requests and segmented list requests to support Annual Giving communications tactics. Prepares lists for vendor use.
As needed, works in Raiser's Edge to obtain and record donor-related information.
Donor stewardship mailings
Executes mailings including but not limited to: donor thank you letters, donor welcome cards, pledge reminders, and prayer request response cards. Produces mailings with the help of student office workers as available.
Generates mail merges, produces labels, and stuffs envelopes when needed.
Telemarketing (currently outsourced)
Assists with the development of scripts and supporting communications.
Works with data team to provide segmented calling lists and other needed data.
Monitors progress reports.
May recruit student volunteers to conduct thank you calls to telemarketing donors on behalf of the university.
Leadership / loyalty giving and stewardship:
Works closely with the Assistant Director of Annual Giving to execute all leadership giving (President's Circle) solicitations and stewardship efforts in order to promote donor retention and upgrades.
Activities include mailings, events, and personal calls.
As needed, supports loyalty giving and mid-level donor strategies.
Giving Day, crowdfunding, and peer-to-peer fundraising
Plays a key role in the organization and execution of SPU Giving Day. Coordinates related tactics.
Works with digital crowdfunding platform to deploy fundraising tactics in support of SPU Giving Day and other campaigns.
Helps create communication plans to promote Giving Day and other digital fundraising campaigns.
Assists with Giving Day events and volunteer fundraising efforts.
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent.
Experience developing and implementing a variety of marketing and communications tactics is required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or business, preferred.
Experience in annual giving or in a related development field will be given preference.
Four+ years of experience related to the position is preferred, and more is beneficial.
Experience developing marketing and communications strategies is preferred.
Multi-channel marketing experience, including social media marketing, is preferred. Experience with video is considered a plus.
