Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the Executive Director, Strategic Communications in External Relations and Development, the Senior Associate Director works as part of the Strategic Communications team and across constituent areas of Columbia Business School to produce high-quality video content for use in the School's digital spaces. This individual will meet core and partnership values of teamwork, integrity, accountability, and respect.
1.Identify content opportunities that align with the School's initiatives, mission, and goals; work with colleagues in Strategic Communications and across the School to create compelling videos in response to evolving needs of prospective and current students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
2.Utilize storytelling techniques to communicate complex topics in simple, creative ways
3.Produce and/or project manage both small- and large-scale video, audio, and photography projects, working with third-party vendors and across School and University constituencies; manage creative production processes and workflow strategies, keeping vendor projects on time and on budget
4.Manage, shoot and edit still photography from School events for use on website, social media, and lobby screens.
5.Manage School's online video distribution network, including YouTube Channel, video archive, and website video library. Upload and tag all assets from stakeholders across the School, maintain brand standards, track analytics, and develop success metrics, including analysis and recommendations, for creative content assets.
6.Create and adapt visual content for a variety of constituencies, including prospective students, recruiters and alumni, business community, and academic colleagues, to be used across a variety of digital platforms including social media, websites, digital lobby screens, digital advertising, etc. Optimize content specific to platform (e.g. website, social media, screens).
7.Create and maintain training documentation and best-practice documents to help stakeholders across the School create and measure success of video and photo content used in digital spaces. Draw on editorial, visual, storytelling, and web skills to advise on creating effective content and marketing and communications goals through digital content. Provide video brand assets and technical specifications to partners, stakeholders, and vendors and instruct on their proper usage.
8.Ensure that video and photo content is consistent with overall brand objectives and online strategy and is of consistently high editorial and visual quality.
9.Support External Relations in furthering the School's online identity and brand messaging.
10.Perform related special projects as necessary.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or related discipline required. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of four years related experience required.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Must have experience writing, editing, and producing stories and other content across various media and channels. Must be able to develop and produce stories or content via video, photo, audio, and/or, text and interact effectively with all levels of School leadership. Collaborative mindset is essential. Strong writing and editing skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly and concisely; excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail. Strong project management skills, including experience working with creative vendors, technical teams, budgets, and tight schedules required. Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven, collaborative environment needed. Able to produce video, audio, and other visual video content with Adobe Creative Suite software (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, Photoshop, Bridge, etc.) required. Must be able to operate and maintain video and photography hardware (video camera, still camera, lights, microphones, seamless backdrops, other hardware as needed). Familiarity with social media platforms and standards needed. Ability to work within the Drupal content management system necessary. Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings required.
