The position reports to the Director of Marketing. The position will create attractive and functional design for the university website, e-communications, digital advertising, and other end user experiences. This position will conceptualize, design, and communicate user-centered solutions. The position will assist the web team with reviewing, coordinating, and training students, faculty and staff on the application of architecture and design standards for the university website.
Design Creation: - Create design that complements website user experience. - Create a wide range of digital materials (e.g. websites, mobile apps, digital ads, etc.) including e-communications and website graphics - Conceptualize and communicate user centered design solutions. - Design a wide range of web-based materials.
Website Application and Design: - Assist Manger of Digital Information in maintaining the structure and hierarchy within the CMS. - Work with website "owners" (departments, organizations) to update their website with new look. - Meet with departments to assess information presentation needs: what information they need to present and in what presentation formats (video, audio, Excel, Word, relational databases). - Help train users (students, faculty, and staff) on how to update their website and use the new template; - Help maintain the organization and presentation of content within the content management system (CMS).
User Experience: - Consult with Public Affairs staff and university departments on how to develop engaging user experiences in online advertising, social media, email campaigns, digital displays and website. - Research and keep up on new interaction design and technology trends. Collaborate on user experience campaign creation. - Other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in computer science, ITAM or a related field, and professional experience in digital design
Working knowledge of major languages such as HTML, XHTML, and CSS, as well as experience designing inside a content management systems (CMS) such as Drupal.
Strong user centered design skills.
Experience working with professional graphic design programs such as the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator, and Acrobat), and the Macintosh platform.
Ability to prioritize workflow to meet deadlines.
OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
Working knowledge of web analytics.
Experience in the development of digital advertising
Experience working in PHP

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer work station for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records. Some evening or weekend work and/or occasional travel may be required.
