The National Recreation & Park Association is actively seeking to fill our Communications Specialist position.
The Marketing and Communications Specialist position plays an integral role in the creative implementation and direction of NRPA's marketing and communications strategy. This position is primarily responsible for building and creating NRPA’s emails, updating NRPA’s social media accounts, coordinating marketing and social media calendars, posting updates to the website and blog, and supporting the MarComMag team. The position also provides administrative support to the marketing and communications team.
Coordinates and implements social media messages along with communications team. Oversees the tracking of social media initiatives and initiates rapid-response to audiences via social media. Helps establish metrics for and monitoring of social media initiatives via web analytics and other tools to ensure success.
Coordinates and implements e-newsletters and email marketing campaigns for the organization. Maintains the email schedule and manages workflows to meet deadlines. Manages email address list updates. Completes analysis of email statistics and month-to-month trends.
Shares and reports on email and social media statistics in weekly team meeting.
Coordinates basic public relations functions in coordination with the communications team. Conduct media monitoring and proactively monitor and flag trends and/or coverage that can inform audiences.
Coordinates advertising space and manages electronic files for digital advertising in newsletters.
Provide input on existing promotional materials and develop new materials to maximize marketing effectiveness.
Regularly helps write and edit pieces for NRPA newsletters, emails, blog and Parks & Recreation magazine.
Provides assistance to the marketing and communications team.

NOTES: Local Residents Preferred (No Relo)
2-5 years’ experience in Marketing or Communications position required
BA/?BS in Marketing or related field required
Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook is required
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite preferred (Illustrator, Photoshop)
Familiarity with HTML and working in a content management system
Association experience a plus
Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format
In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, etc.)
Basic graphic design
Basic understanding of media relations; experience with media monitoring and analysis a plus
Good technical understanding and can pick up new tools quickly
