Senior Director, Social Media University Marketing, The Ohio State University
The Senior Director, Social Media is responsible for planning, implementing, measuring, and optimizing a social media strategy that furthers brand building, engagement, and lead generation across the university. A member of the University Marketing team and reporting to the Sr. AVP of Strategic Capabilities Development, this leader must spread a culture of data-driven insights, push for continuous learning, and help create a center of excellence. Marketing activities should drive measurable outcomes and impact. He/she seeks fresh insights, recognizing good ideas can come from anywhere and anyone. The Sr. Director is a strategic integrated marketer who understands how social channels fit in larger marketing campaigns, crisis response, and content marketing.
The Ohio State University has more than 700,000 "likes" on Facebook, 275,000 followers on Twitter, 300,000 followers on LinkedIn, and 140,000 followers on Instagram. The enterprise social accounts are high-profile ways to reach key audiences, such as alumni, prospective students, and thought leaders. There are hundreds of additional social accounts for colleges and units, so the Sr. Director is expected to serve as the steward of best practices, tools, and brand alignment.
Manage the existing Ohio State presence on social media channels and work aggressively to cross-promote and maximize engagement with key audiences
Envision the future state of the channel and develop the strategic roadmap to get there
Evaluate the toolset required for social media publishing, listening, measurement, and optimization
Build collaborative relationships within University Marketing (Creative, Multimedia, Analytics, Content, Strategy, Web Dev) and across Ohio State's social media community of practice

Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or other related course of study; eight years in a marketing/marketing communications position; five years of experience in online marketing; three years of experience of planning integrated marketing strategies; three years of experience with testing and optimizing social media; two years of experience with digital advertising; three years of supervisory experience; demonstrated ability to work within brand guidelines and use brand voice; experience managing a social community and supporting content marketing; strong learning acumen related to new platforms and ability to teach others; successful experience working with numbers, metrics and, analysis; occasional evening and weekend work required.
Five years of professional experience in social media; experience in a matrix organization; experience navigating a large & complex organization and collaborating with varied teams.
Target Salary: $120,000.00 - $130,000.00 Annually
